Magic Eraser I have never heard of in my life. It is a pencil or a felt tip pen or what?

inn my new home cleans I have a lot of silicone and latex depending what the painters use that day. Magic eraser works great. My only issue is on a new building the first clean of pane glass worked great. WFP and a bit of wiping worked great. 2nd time still okay. Then the stucco guys came to redo spots around lighting. The 3rd clean WFP came out horrible so went to wipe and polish, usually use a window mix with featured and or IPA. Oily residue like you can see the kind of shiny spear. So pull out trusty wagtail, then sorbo, glass gleam, shoot joy or dawn. nothing worked. Did a vinegar scrub and rinse. Still there is a film similar to what you find in interior windows from building gassing. One weird trick is if there is a type of residue coming off the new rubber seals is a joint compound brushed on dry, same thing that takes oily residue of newly glazed windows. My other building I just had to wipe and scrub the top seal a few times every time I cleaned and the first inch or 2 of the glass all the residue is gone but this place the entire pane, all 15 have a smeary residue.

I never would have thought to try a microfibre cloth, but it worked brilliantly for me and meant I didn't ruin my glass by accident. Thanks so much!

They suck. My bank was remodeled. I clean the new front and did WFP to finish. Looked great. The stucco and cement guys cam to do some work and clean 2,3,4 are just horrible. Now, my other bank I spent some time wiping the seals with denatured, alcohol and acetone. Now WFP works awesome. This other place is insane. Yeah, even tried ammonia then vinegar, soaps, squeegee won't work either so looks like the have to hand work each pane using the IPA and denatured with a cloth.

I've found microfibers to be safer on glass and take 99% of everything off that steel wool does. I should probably just start using a rag instead of wool if I'm gonna scrub at the glass anyways.

Thank you! This was a very helpful, healthy alternative for getting the goo off for a reptile tank. Don't want to use any harsh chemicals. I added a bit of distilled white vinegar to my water and it seemed to help it along.

White magic is king you can get ceramic scrappers

You won't scratch glass with a 1 inch blade. A 4 inch blade works best not you Can Not scrape most tempered glass with a 4 inch blade. You won't really see the scratches but when the sunlight hits it that's all you'll see. When scraping tempered glass it will almost feel like you're scraping sandpaper.

i had some silicone residue left over from swimmers ear plugs left on my night table. I used this stuff called 'GOO GONE' and it worked really well.

& 0000 steel wool will remove the debris without scratching glass. Just make sure it's 0000 steal wool

Razor does work, but you never razor a dry window. You only razor a lubricated window. That prevents scratches.

I have heard. If you are concerned about scratching the glass. They make stainless steel razor blades that are less likely to scratch the glass. I install signs on windows and to now only use standard razor blades, and have not yet scratched any glass. I always use new clean and true blades. there is also plastic razor blades that can be used also.

Simple enough. Wipe it with a rag. A little prep work will go a long way. I see you dog eared your squeegee.
